Watch this video to refresh your memory of the four different types of sentence: statements, commands, questions and exclamations:
Which type of sentence is each of these examples?
a) Go to the end of the road and turn right.
b) How much do those trainers cost?
c) What a lovely day for a walk!
d) I forgot to bring my packed lunch.
Now write one example of each sentence type of your own: make up one statement, one command, one question and one exclamation. Don’t forget to punctuate your sentences correctly!
Challenge: can you post your sentences as a comment on the blog for other people to work out which type of sentence each one is?
Literacy
Yesterday, you should have finished your story, "Stuck". Today it is time to edit your writing.
Read through your story and:
- check for any mistakes
- make as many improvements as you can
Reading
Please remember that it is really important to try to keep reading every day. As well as any books, magazines or other reading materials you might have at home, here is a reminder of some of the activities you can be doing each day:
1. There's a new fluency lesson from Ms Davies, and it's excellent! If you haven't done the lesson yet, then you can see the video for it here. This is one my of favourite beginnings to a story - it really hooks you in!
2. There are loads of fantastic books available to read online on the GetEpic website - we can see that some of you have been using this (well done!) but we would really like to see more of you reading on there. To log on and see how many great books they have, go to www.getepic.com/students and type in our class code: qav6098
3. There are also some brilliant dual language books available at https://uk.mantralingua.com/homereading. These are written both in English and another language, which makes them great to read with families who don't only speak English - the list includes Somali, Arabic, Urdu and many other languages. You may need an adult to help you fill in the form to get to the books.
Word Aware
Can you think of a sentence that fits the vocabulary game we've been playing this week and then extend the sentence by adding additional details? For example, I started with: 'Mo is a musician in Mozambique' and extended it to: 'Mysteriously, Mo is a Mexican musician with a metallic mandolin; most of Mozambique marvels at his moody music'.
Maths

Starter
Play this equivalent fractions game (you will need to allow Flash). If the website won't load the game, then spend 10 minutes on Mathletics.
Main activity
Watch the video for Week 3, Lesson 4: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/. Think about any questions you are asked and take part in any practice activities. Then, complete the worksheet (you can do this by writing the answers in your books - you do not need to print the worksheets).

Topic
Geography
Watch the two videos and read the information on this website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z4dxt39. Complete Activity 3 (Geography Explorer Game).
Challenge: Have you ever read a fiction book with a map in it? Look up examples of maps of imaginary worlds from books. Some classic examples include: The Hobbit, The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Winnie the Pooh and Neverland. look up maps from books of imaginary worlds. Pick a favourite book (or film) that doesn't have a map. Can you create one? Add a key to help others understand the world you have mapped.
Art
To start with, you will need a piece of paper and a pencil. Later on, you might also like to use some pencil crayons and/or a black pen.

Before starting your artwork, fold your paper in one of the two ways that the teacher shows you on the video. Then go on a texture hunt in your house!
I had a go too! Some of the things I used included: keys, a potato masher, a comb, earrings, a fan and the bottom of a new (unworn) pair of shoes! I've just realised I forgot to use any coins, so I'll try those next time. When I was finished, I used a black pen to add a bit more definition to my artwork.
WWW: I really like the mix of different colours - I think it helps the textures to stand out more. I'm particularly pleased with how clearly the pink pattern came out (this was from a decorative bowl).
EBI: Some of my textures didn't show up at all - I think I need to choose more carefully next time. My edges could be sharper, and I didn't use a ruler to draw my black lines, so everything is a bit wonky.
