Literacy

* What do you notice? What do you wonder?
* Who is the woman?
* Why does she live on a boat?
* Does she have everything she needs?
* Is she happy?
* Is she lonely?
* Is being alone the same as being lonely?

Word Aware

Play 'I'm thinking of...' with someone in your family. The rules are simple: use three adjectives to describe something and see if they can guess what you're thinking of. If no one is available, you can play it with me (leave your guesses in the comments section).

I'm thinking of something... tasty, white and small. Can you guess what I'm thinking of?

    1. Hi Amira,

      1. What would it look like if you drew it as a bar model?

      2. Yes, it's 8!

      3. She drinks 2/5 of the coffee. What fraction hasn't she drunk? This fraction is equal to 120ml of coffee. Can you use this to work out how much coffee there was at the start (or, how much coffee is equal to 5/5)?

      4. Yes, well done!

      5. Okay, let us know if you'd like a hint.

      I'm impressed by how early you were up and doing maths work!

Term 6 - Writing

 In literacy lessons, we have been learning about part of S. F. Said's book, 'Phoenix'. We read an edited version of the first chapter, and over the next few weeks, created our own action stories based on that.

Term 6 - Music Week

 For Music Week, we listened to 'The Carnival of the Animals'. Year 6 focused on 'The Aviary'. After discussing the piece of music, we looked at images of birds and then collaborated as a table to create our own bold, beautiful birds. Don't they look great?

Term 6 - Writing Day

 We loved celebrating National Writing Day this year! It was really interesting to think about how authors and illustrators work together to tell a story, and we have made a fantastic class book full of stories about our proudest moments.  We also liked taking part in the challenges which came over the walkie-talkie during the day! A particular favourite was 'write your name in fancy'.
