Literacy

 1. If you haven't already taken part in Miss Davies' wonderful reading lesson, then please start by doing that. (Miss Davies is right, by the way: I will be treating myself to copy of this book very soon!)

2. Pick a topic that interests you that we don't teach at Cabot at the moment. Write a paragraph to persuade me that we should teach it! 

 Word Aware

 In school, we've been talking about the collective nouns for groups of animals. For example, a group of crows is called a murder of crows; a group of wild cats is called a destruction of  wild cats; a group of elephants is called a memory of elephants.

There are many, many more! Have a look at the list of collective nouns here. Pick one or two that interest you. Why do you think they're called that? Can you come up with some of your own collective nouns for animals? Or perhaps, pick your favourites from the list and make an alphabet of collective nouns?

My favourite is a flamboyance of flamingoes!

    10 X 2= 5 X 4
    10+2= 5+7
    10 divided by 2 =5 divided by 1
    10-2 =13-5
    The greatest is 86
    idk about the last two.

      Morning Amira,

      1. and 2. YES!

      3. Check again... What are the two largest numbers she could make? What do they total?

      4. 2 pencils + 3 rulers = £5 - £1.07
      (69p x 2) + 3 rulers = £3.93
      Can you complete the calculations to find out what 1 ruler costs?

      5. We've been learning about angles in school this week. Have a look in your CGP book and review what it says about angles in a triangle, angles in a quadrilateral and any other angle facts...

      Questions 1 - 3 YES! Well done!

      Question 4... Check again. 2 pencils and 3 rulers cost £3.93. Each pencil costs 69p. What does 1 ruler cost?

      Question 5. Have a look in your CGP book about angles on a straight line and angles in a triangle...

Ramadan Mubarak, Year 6!  We know that Ramadan this year will be very different to any that you have experienced so far. Term 6 - Writing

 In literacy lessons, we have been learning about part of S. F. Said's book, 'Phoenix'. We read an edited version of the first chapter, and over the next few weeks, created our own action stories based on that.
