Year 6 2021-22

The second of our amazing topic trips was to the Natural History Museum in London! We had to leave school before 7am, which was a real struggle. The journey to London passed quickly, helped by being able to watch several films on the bus. At the Natural History Museum we followed several trails around the museum, learning lots more about our Life Cycles topic in science. We couldn't believe how much there was to see, and lots of children wanted to stay for the whole weekend. The grand finale of the trip was a chance to handle and explore objects from the museum's collection. We used microscopes, magnifying glasses, scales and more to work scientifically to make observations about the different objects. Last week was packed full of trips for Year 6! On Tuesday, we slipped and slid our way out of school and up the hill to Bristol Museum. Each group had agreed their must-see areas ahead of time, so we separated to have a look around. Whilst we were doing this, we were also keeping a careful eye out for any Greek design influences in the building. We spotted several different types of columns! After a fun hour or so of exploring, it was time for our Ancient Greece workshop. We split into four groups: one group were handling real Greek artefacts, another was taking measurements and making field sketches, just like archaeologists do; the final two groups were observing Greek pottery and describing Greek objects. We leant a lot, and it was incredible to be given the opportunity to handle real artefacts! Following a much-needed lunch, there was just time for a final look around the museum (including spotting some extinct animals and some amazing glass and china), before it was time
