Protractor Skills

We've been learning about angles in Year 6, and this morning, the children came in to find their tables had been covered in washi tape! Children practised using protractors to measure and classify the angles on their tables. We particularly enjoyed writing directly onto the table with our whiteboard pens!

French Week

During French Week, Year 6 learned how to play the French game, Poules, Renards, Viperes. This is a three-way tag game, so you need to divide your players into three teams.  Les poules (the chickens) chase the snakes and are chased by the foxes. Les renards (the foxes) chase the chickens and are chased by the snakes. Les viperes (the snakes) chase the foxes and are chased by the chickens. If you are tagged by the team chasing you, then they capture you and take you back to their base.  We had a lot of fun playing this game, and we'd recommend it to any class to try (make sure you have three different coloured sets of bibs or sashes, though)!

Spelling Bee

We walked to St Werburgh's this afternoon to take part in a Spelling Bee with several local schools. The first few rounds featured words from the Year 5/6 spelling list, but once we'd run out of those, the words got a lot harder! Each school had six children representing them. After four rounds, we still had three children from Cabot in the competition! We ended up coming join second, after being foiled by the very tricky word, 'sovereign'. Well done to all who took part - you represented Cabot excellently, and we are so proud of you!
