Mosque Trip

We recently visited one of our local mosques. Incredibly, this mosque was set up by the family of one of our own Year 6 pupils! For many of our pupils, it was the first time that they had been in this mosque, and it was really interesting to compare this mosque to the mosques that they regularly attend. Thank you for having us!

Newswise

We spent the day learning about how to be NewsWise, how to spot fake news, and the different jobs that journalists do! We had an absolutely fantastic time producing our own news reports, as well as analysing the news. Thank you, NewsWise team!

Viking Runes

As part of our topic work on Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, we learnt about the Viking runic alphabet. Did you know that the Vikings believed Odin sacrificed one of his eyes for knowledge of the runes? Vikings who could read and write were very respected in their communities! What do you think our runic messages say?

Light Workshop

A few weeks ago, Year 6 were invited to take part in a Light Workshop, run by the Real Photography Company, sponsored by The Ogden Trust, run at St Paul's Learning Centre. You can read all about it on the  The Ogden Trust's website . We made our own camera obscuras, took photos with pinhole cameras made out of cans, looked through the giant camera obscura onto the street outside, and even wore some camera obscuras! At the end of the workshop, we were given pinhole cameras to take back to school that we will use to track the movements of the sun over the next few months. We can't wait to see what the finished photos will look like! We had an amazing time making our cameras and learning more about light and photography, and we're very grateful for the opportunity to take part in this workshop!
