Activities - Week 16 - Thursday

Good morning, Year 6!

Please remember to get in touch to tell us if you'll be coming in for the leavers' lunch next Wednesday. Thank you to everyone who has already been in touch - we're really looking forward to seeing you all!

Maths

Starter
To get ready for today's lesson, spend at least 10 minutes on Mathletics.

Main Activity
Today's lesson is about solving problems.

First, watch this video and have a go at any of the questions in it:

Then complete this worksheet: Thursday's Maths Worksheet
(Don't forget that you can do this by writing the answers in your book or on a piece of paper - you don't need to print the sheet out.)

Then check your work against the answers: Thursday's Maths Answers

Literacy

If you haven't already finished your report and emailed it to us, please do that. Otherwise...

Topic

Geography

Read and watch the information about the Galapagos Islands. Either make an information leaflet about them, or research some of the animals that live there, and present your information to your family.

Art

You have a choice today! Either follow the video lesson about the French artist Henri Matisse and collage, or try this Op Art activity that we did in school yesterday!

First we watched this video, because it uses coloured pens to make the steps really clear:

Then, we watched this video and made our own Op Art! Some children did one sphere, others did several. We drew around all sorts of circular objects! You might like to try using a jar or tin from your kitchens (check with an adult first, and put it back when you've finished).

Have a great day!

Thank you so much if you've posted a comment on the blog - we have replied to every comment that we've seen. We'd really like to hear some of your 'Magical Door' poems when we call you this week - perhaps you can practise performing your poems before we speak to you? Or, if you prefer, you could post your poems as comments on the blog! If you've been a little slow to return to schoolwork after the holidays, please make sure you've checked the blog posts from the last few weeks. Weekly Activities Literacy 1. Carry on with your diaries. You might not feel that you have anything interesting to write about, but remember that this is a very unusual time. Term 5 - Literacy

In Literacy, we read and wrote discussion texts about whether or not artefacts such as the Benin Bronzes should be returned to their countries of origin. To explore the issue, Year 6 took part in role-play activities and conscience alleys to share their opinions and understand how different people might feel about this topical issue. Year 6 showed great maturity in discussing this topic and were able to express their viewpoints with evidence and arguments to back themselves up.
