* Who is the woman?
* Why does she live on a boat?
* Does she have everything she needs?
* Is she happy?
* Is she lonely?
* Is being alone the same as being lonely?

Word Aware

Play 'I'm thinking of...' with someone in your family. The rules are simple: use three adjectives to describe something and see if they can guess what you're thinking of. If no one is available, you can play it with me (leave your guesses in the comments section).

I'm thinking of something... tasty, white and small. Can you guess what I'm thinking of?

    1. Hi Amira,

      1. What would it look like if you drew it as a bar model?

      2. Yes, it's 8!

      3. She drinks 2/5 of the coffee. What fraction hasn't she drunk? This fraction is equal to 120ml of coffee. Can you use this to work out how much coffee there was at the start (or, how much coffee is equal to 5/5)?

      4. Yes, well done!

      5. Okay, let us know if you'd like a hint.

      I'm impressed by how early you were up and doing maths work!

 In literacy lessons, we have been learning about part of S. F. Said's book, 'Phoenix'. We read an edited version of the first chapter, and over the next few weeks, created our own action stories based on that.

Activities - Week 6

We're looking forward to hearing all about what you've been doing when we speak to you this week! Thank you so much if you've posted a comment on the blog - we have replied to every comment that we've seen. We'd really like to hear some of your 'Magical Door' poems when we call you this week - perhaps you can practise performing your poems before we speak to you? Or, if you prefer, you could post your poems as comments on the blog! If you've been a little slow to return to schoolwork after the holidays, please make sure you've checked the blog posts from the last few weeks. Weekly Activities Literacy 1. Carry on with your diaries. You might not feel that you have anything interesting to write about, but remember that this is a very unusual time. Term 5 - Literacy

 In Literacy, we read and wrote discussion texts about whether or not artefacts such as the Benin Bronzes should be returned to their countries of origin. To explore the issue, Year 6 took part in role-play activities and conscience alleys to share their opinions and understand how different people might feel about this topical issue. Year 6 showed great maturity in discussing this topic and were able to express their viewpoints with evidence and arguments to back themselves up.
