In science, we have been learning about electricity. We have looked at circuit diagrams and have designed and carried out our own investigation around the effect of wire length on the brightness of a bulb or the volume of a buzzer. We found out that the light bulb either got dimmer or did not work the longer the wire was.

As part of show racism the red card  we have worn red and donated money. We have talked about the aims of organisation and some of the issues around racisms.

Show Racism the Red Card is the UK's leading anti-racism educational charity. https://www.theredcard.org/

They provide educational workshops, training sessions, multimedia packages, and a whole host of other resources, all with the purpose of tackling racism in society. Established in January 1996, the organisation utilises the high-profile status of football and football players to publicise its message. Across Britain, Show Racism the Red Card delivers training to more than 50,000 individuals per year.

Term 6 - Writing

In literacy lessons, we have been learning about part of S. F. Said's book, 'Phoenix'. We read an edited version of the first chapter, and over the next few weeks, created our own action stories based on that.

Term 6 - Language Skills

Year 6 have been practising their -ant, -ance, -ancy and -ent, -ence and -ency spellings recently. One fun way we found to practise was by playing a matching game. Children had to turn over a word card and a definition card and see if they matched. If they did, the children had to try to spell the word without looking at the card. If they were correct, they kept the pair of cards. The winner was the player with the most pairs!

Term 6 - Music Week

For Music Week, we listened to 'The Carnival of the Animals'. Year 6 focused on 'The Aviary'. After discussing the piece of music, we looked at images of birds and then collaborated as a table to create our own bold, beautiful birds. Don't they look great?
