Dear Year 6

Dear Year 6,

We hope that you're all okay: safe, well and not feeling anxious. We've been thinking a lot about you this week, especially those of you who we haven't seen for a while - we miss you! To those children who we have seen this week, we have been overwhelmed by your resilience and partnership.

You must be feeling very odd at the moment, whether you've been coming into school or not. Please don't worry: this is to help keep us all safe. We are thinking of you, and will be checking in with you regularly via this blog. Every Monday, we will be posting:

- 1 literacy activity;
- 1 maths activity;
- 1 reading activity;
- 1 topic activity.

To start with, here are some photos from earlier in the year which made us smile because they were full of good memories. We are so proud to be your teachers, and we will miss you very much whilst school is closed. Please do contact us through the school office if you need any support from us (0117 377 2630 or cabotp@bristol-schools.uk).

Remember that you can log into Mathletics and TTRS. Sometimes we will have set particular tasks for you to complete on Mathletics before you play some games.

Here is a list of other websites that you might enjoy looking at in the meantime:

Remember to check back on Monday for your weekly activities, as well as an updated list of resources that you might find interesting.

Enjoy spending some quality time with your family, and use the Cabot Daily Planner to help organise your day!

Take care of yourselves,

Ms Tupman and Mr Town

Term 6 - Writing

 In literacy lessons, we have been learning about part of S. F. Said's book, 'Phoenix'. We read an edited version of the first chapter, and over the next few weeks, created our own action stories based on that.

Term 6 - Language Skills

Year 6 have been practising their -ant, -ance, -ancy and -ent, -ence and -ency spellings recently. One fun way we found to practise was by playing a matching game. Children had to turn over a word card and a definition card and see if they matched. If they did, the children had to try to spell the word without looking at the card. If they were correct, they kept the pair of cards. The winner was the player with the most pairs!

Term 6 - Music Week

 For Music Week, we listened to 'The Carnival of the Animals'. Year 6 focused on 'The Aviary'. After discussing the piece of music, we looked at images of birds and then collaborated as a table to create our own bold, beautiful birds. Don't they look great?
